Shiseido Announces Retirement of Risa Takenaka of Shiseido Running Club

January 11th, 2018

Shiseido Company, Limited (“Shiseido”) hereby announces that Risa Takenaka, Shiseido Running Club athlete, will retire from a full-time athletic career. Her last race will be The 36th Inter-Prefectural Women’s Ekiden, to be held on Sunday, January 14, 2018 in Kyoto prefecture, where she will represent Shiga prefecture.
Shiseido would like to take this opportunity to thank all the fans for the warm support of Ms. Takenaka.

Comment from Ms. Takenaka

“I have decided to leave Shiseido Running Club as of March 31, 2018. I have had repeated injuries since last summer, and I am no longer able to train properly and as much as needed to achieve my goals. Furthermore, as doctors say a complete recovery might be difficult, I have chosen to hang up my boots. Thanks to the great support from so many people, I really enjoyed track-and-field over the 16 years of my athletic career and the six years at Shiseido Running Club. I would like to offer my sincere gratitude to all of you for your warm support and encouragement. I will give my best performance at my last race! And I hope you will continue supporting Shiseido Running Club, going forward.”
