Shiseido Running Club Appoints a New Head Coach

This is to inform you that Mr. Manabu Kawagoe has been appointed new Head Coach of Shiseido Running Club, effective January 2017. Going forward, Shiseido Running Club will continue its activities based on the slogan of “strong, quick and beautiful” under the new Head Coach, endeavoring to nurture athletes with outstanding professional as well as human qualities.
Masahiro Inoguchi, who served as Associate Coach till the end of 2016, will continue with the Club as Vice Head Coach.

Manabu Kawagoe
Date of birth: 6 August 1962 (54 years)
Born in Kagoshima prefecture. Entered Waseda University, Tokyo, and joined its Athletic Club where he distinguished himself by winning numerous races and succeeding to the legendary runner, Toshihiko Seko. Ran the key Second Stage of Hakone Ekiden. Graduated from Waseda University in 1986 and joined Shiseido HR Department the same year. Took part in various competitions as a member athlete of Shiseido Running Club. After retiring from competition, nurtured numerous athletes as a coach and supervisor. In 2007, left Shiseido and set up a club team “Second Wind AC” to train international-level athletes and junior athletes.

“Starting as Shiseido Running Club coach, I have been coaching and supervising athletes for 13 years. Shiseido has brought me up in my profession, so coming back as its Head Coach from 2017 is both a privilege and a responsibility. I take pride in being related to Shiseido and will do my best to enhance the abilities of each and every athlete. United as a team, we will aim for the victory in the All-Japan Women's Corporate Ekiden Championship, and promote the advancement of women through our running activities.
