KARUIZAWA, Japan – September 6-8, 2016 – Shiseido support for “Women Coaches Academy 2016”, held at Karuizawa Prince Hotel.
※ ”Women Coaches Academy” is a program hosted by Japanese Center for Research on Women in Sport (Juntendo University) and is aimed at women coaches in tertiary education and former female athletes aspiring to such careers.
Shiseido joined Day 2 of the Academy, when the following presentations were made.
Liz Hanson, Client Director at Athlete Assessments, delivered a lecture entitled “DISC Program” on behavioral styles. She clarified that behavioral profiling results gained through “Coach DISC Profile” can deepen the understanding of the coach’s own behavioral style as well as those of her athletes. The key learning was that such awareness, coupled with mutual understanding of different behavior styles, is crucial for nurturing a strong team.
“Mental & Coping Skills” presented by Miyako Tanaka-Oulevey elucidated the importance of sports psychology for coaches and mentors. The speaker pointed out how to control emotions and manage stress for an efficient performance.
In “Innovative Thinking” Lisa O'Keefe, Director of Insight at Sport England, talked about “This Girl Can” campaign that produced a world-wide effect. She shared the milestones of transforming the attitude toward sport, wrapping up her presentation with five inspiring messages to the participants, and everyone felt energized by Liza’s enthusiastic leadership.
Dr. Etsuko Ogasawara, Executive Director of Japanese Center for Research on Women in Sport, offered a systematic approach to the history of “Leadership” and its in-depth discussion. The participating coaches could apply the theory to discover their own unique leadership styles.
The ideas of Dr. Ogasawara were further developed by Masayo Imura, Representative Director of Imura Synchro Club, in her presentation on “Teambuilding”. Ms. Imura, who had just returned from the Rio Olympics, was excited to share her team management techniques.
Shiseido presented all participating coaches with samples of its products, ANESSA and Pure White.
